Review: Imagine: How Creativity Works

Imagine: How Creativity Works Imagine: How Creativity Works by Jonah Lehrer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read this book a few years ago, and don't remember specific references well enough to write about them, but I can certainly say that I greatly enjoyed this book. I read it in two days, which is quite a feat for somebody as all over the place as I am.

This book explores procedures, techniques, and experiments that are put in place with the emphasis of synthesizing more ideas. I believe one such example deals with the placement of bathrooms in an office setting. Some of the ideas are really great, and I found the entire read to be fascinating. I highly recommend that you read it!

Review of "My Booky Wook" by Russell Brand

My Booky WookMy Booky Wook by Russell Brand
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book. Without getting too detailed, I can relate to some of the problems Russell experienced throughout telling this story. I actually grew up only about 2 miles away from the facility that he checked into in the beginning of the book.

It has been a few years since I had the pleasure of reading this (and I read it twice in one month). It really was hard to put down. The reflection feels honest, and the humor is right up my alley. I consider him to be one of the funniest comedians around. I am aware that he may annoy some people, but he is so quick and witty, he cracks me up all the time. I ask those who may not be a fan to just give this book a try. You may be surprised how you feel in just a few pages.

I have recommended this book to all kinds of people. Some were fans, some were adamantly not, and some had no idea who he was. I never came across anybody that was disappointed. I highly recommend this book, and his second Booky Wook, too.

Welcome to my New Blog

Hey everybody!

I'm not sure who exactly will be reading this. I've created a few blogs in the past, but due to personal issues I never really kept up with any of them. Some of them were outlets for my struggles and frustrations, some were to link to other stories that I related to, and some were to commemorate times and places I've been. This blog will have a less focused approach, which will allow me to post a wide range of things. I am taking that route to encourage myself to post regularly, and not overthink whether or not a certain post "belongs" on the blog. I plan on posting reviews to books that I've read, links to interesting videos or websites that I come across, experiences that I have, interesting music, and much more. I have recently changed paths with regards to my career. I now handle social media for other companies, and find myself maintaining company blogs. This one is for me, and that's how I want it to be.

So, for better or worse, welcome to my blog. I hope that you'll enjoy the content!

Best wishes,
-Mike
